Welcome to ATI San Francisco

Hello and thank you for considering ATI San Francisco. We know choosing a high school is a big decision. We are lucky to live in a city where there are a lot of wonderful schools, and we are excited ATI is among them.  We are proud to share ATI with you and eager to partner with you and your child to make the best decision for your family.

I encourage you to explore our website, to read through our core values, and to learn about the ATI experience so you have a sense of the community we aspire to create with our students. We are an intentionally small school, and it is important to us to build connection with families and to ensure students are eager to contribute to our community and ready to take advantage of what we offer.

We are excited to get to know you and for you to be inspired by what is possible here at ATI.

Warm regards,

Olga Sylvia, PhD

Admissions Director

Admissions Process & Timeline

We want our admissions process to be simple, friendly, purposeful and collaborative. We’ve laid out the key aspects of our admissions process below to make it easy for you to see each step along the way.

There are 3 key steps in our admissions process.

Step 1 – Learn about ATI by attending one or more of our events this fall.

Step 2 – Consider a Shadow Day this fall to experience a day in the life of ATI.

Step 3 – Submit your application to ATI, which includes financial aid if necessary, by January 9, 2020.

If you are considering transferring to ATI San Francisco for the current 2019-20 school year, please go here to learn about our transfer process.

We'd love to meet you!

As a first step, we’d love to meet you!

We have a range of opportunities for interested families and students to learn about ATI, talk to our staff, and begin the admissions process.

Book a Tour. We offer tours Tuesdays at 10 AM, and Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10 AM and 1 PM. Tours are approximately 45 minutes long, and are an opportunity to talk to staff, visit a class, and answer questions. Space is limited. Please sign up here to secure a space on an upcoming tour.

Attend an Open House. Our Open Houses are an opportunity to meet our entire staff, learn about our program and current classes and connect with students and parents. We are hosting four Open Houses this fall and encourage you to attend. Please click here to sign up for one of our fall Open Houses.

Contact us. If you want to reach out directly to start a conversation, we’d love to hear from you. You can email admissions directly at sanfrancisco@thoughtandindustry.com, or call us at 415-683-5459.

Sign Up for a Shadow Day (recommended but not required)

Once we've had a chance to meet and you're ready to learn more about the ATI experience, we highly encourage, but do not require, students to sign up to attend a Shadow Day at ATI. Our shadow day allows prospective students to have an authentic day-in-the-life experience of our school, to connect with current students and staff, and to engage in our learning community. We welcome students and provide support and check-ins throughout the day to make sure they have what they need to feel comfortable and engaged.

Shadowing begins the week of September 30 and ends the week of December 9. Space is limited, and we accommodate shadowing on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays only.

If you do not shadow, we will set up a time for an interview with the student and family.

This year, ATI will be running its first national scholarship competition. More than $1 million in scholarships will be offered for those teens (age 13 – 18) who are exceptional thinkers and doers. The application deadline is January 15th, 2020 for new candidates (who must be students planning to enroll in August 2020). Winners will be announced March 2, 2020.

In judging the contest, we are looking for:

  • Teens who pursue intellectual work for its own sake, and who are already serious about their intellectual achievements. Have you written a novel? Does your GitHub profile show a major contribution to an Open Source project? Have you discovered a new direction in science? Written a screenplay? We are open to any sort of intellectual achievement.

  • Teens who have achieved in the real world. Have you started a company? Launched a social enterprise? Do you have a digital media empire? Have you organized major events? Again, we are open to any sort of real-world achievement.

Show us what you’ve got! Applicants should submit evidence of their accomplishment(s) along with a 300-500 word narrative explaining its purpose, significance and summary of the accomplishment. You should provide the judges with a clear understanding of why you believe your submission deserves to win.

One national winner will be awarded, with the award applicable to campus of choice. Regional and runner up winners will be awarded at each of our four locations (Austin, San Francisco, New York, and St. Louis). The prize tiers are as follows:

  • National Champion Thinker and Doer: Full tuition to ATI until graduation (up to $200,000 value).

  • Regional champions: 50% annual ATI tuition scholarship each year until graduation (up to $100,000 value).

  • Runners-up: 25% annual ATI tuition scholarship each year until graduation (up to $50,000 value).

For more about the prizes and rules, and for information about our esteemed panel of judges, you can download further details here.
