I continue to be honored and excited to be a member of Academy of Thought and Industry. As your Head of School, I look forward to strengthening the relationships that I have begun building and will build with all of our current and future wonderful students, families, teachers, and talented staff.

As it has been in previous years, we will continue our commitment to helping all our children develop their intellectual capacity, academic skills, and social competence so that they will be prepared to effectively negotiate the demands associated with living in an ever-changing 21st century. Beyond their academic program, we aim to instill within each student the essential principles of self-confidence, respect, and responsibility of being a productive and contributing members of our increasingly global society.

At Academy of Thought and Industry, we will strive to make our students learning process a positive and rewarding experience while maintaining a desire to develop a generation of inquisitive young people who will become lifelong learners in their various pursuits of excellence.

Meet the faculty

Head of School

Monica Torres Del Moral

Head of School

Ms. Monica Torres Del Moral holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, a Specialist’s degree in Corporate Communications, and a Master’s degree in International Marketing. She possesses fifteen years of combined experience in higher education management and marketing. Before joining ATI. she had the pleasure of serving as Executive Director of a continuing education faculty at Universidad Católica Andrés Bello, a business school dedicated to offer learning and development opportunities to young professionals and companies in Latin-america. Ms. Monica is thrilled to be a part of our Admin Team as Admissions Director. The highlight of her work here at ATI is being able to connect with our families and children, and to offer all the support they need as members of our school community, in order to make their experience with us a joyful and memorable one, as they discover the magic of a Montessori education. In her spare time, you’ll find Ms. Monica with her family in the outdoors, jogging and reading.

Monica Perez

Middle School STEM Guide

Monica Perez has a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Environmental Science from Rollins College and a Master’s degree in Ecology from Universidad Central de Venezuela. Currently she is undergoing a Montessori Adolescent Program accredited under the MACTE certification. Working with young adults has always been her passion. For 9 years she worked one-on-one with adolescents, helping them prepare for college. For the past 2 years, she has been part of the Hollywood Beach Guidepost/ATI community working as the MS STEM Guide. She has seen numerous benefits in the Montessori education and feels privileged to be a taking on the Community Manager role at ATI; a school that prepares young adults to become independent, life-long learners by allowing them to pursue their passions in responsible ways. Monica is the mother of a very active young boy. In her free time, she enjoys practicing yoga, travelling, and taking her son outdoors.

Andrea Espinosa-Wang

Middle School Humanities Guide

Ms Espinosa earned a bachelor's degree in History and a minor in Anthropology from Universidad de los Andes in Bogota, Colombia. She also holds a specialization in Bilingual Education from Institucion Universitaria Colombo Americana (UNICA). Ms. Espinosa started her career teaching Social Studies and Global Perspectives in Colombia, and she believes that the Montessori Method is the best to achieve a truly integral education. She comes from a multicultural household, her mother being from Taiwan and her father from Colombia, so for her it is very important to imbue in students the importance of different perspectives, cultural diversity, and the impact that a globalized world has in and outside the classroom. In her free time, Ms. Espinosa loves to play the drums, have long walks and spend time with her two cats while at home.

Naomi St. Gerard

Middle School Math Guide

Ms. Naomi St Gerard began her journey in Montessori education while attending Barry University for a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction. Ms. St Gerard has presented her research about neuroscience education and its connections to Montessori philosophical foundations at the Florida Montessori Coalition and Eastern Educational Research Association. During Ms. St Gerard’s PhD track, she taught Middle School Mathematics for 4 years at two Title 1 schools where her unique Montessori-infused practice gained the interest of her peers. She led various workshops and professional developments on her best practices as we as provide training and support as a Middle School Technology Liaison. Ms. St Gerard has three children and a family full of educators. Her personal interests include playing clarinet, cooking, attending artistic events, and practicing abstract math at local coffee shops.

High School Humanities Guide

Joseph Plair

High School Humanities Guide

Joseph Plair is a military veteran and a graduate of Florida State University and Southern New Hampshire University. His Bachelor’s and Graduate degrees are in English/Creative Writing, with a minor in Humanities. Upon receiving his Florida Teaching Certification, he learned that his passion for teaching is truly a product of his love for learning and the intricate phases and processes that are associated with it. His attention to detail, his commitment to the Team concept, and his never-ending search to finding innovative teaching methods and approaches, assist students in leading a purpose-driven life with strongly supported opinions and beliefs about the world they live in. His goal is to develop solid relationships with his students and co-workers, and become an ATI Team member helping to move forward the mission of providing an educational experience that customizes knowledge and achievement according to the make-up of the individual.
