The Early Years Teaching Certificate is a competitive program designed for individuals who want to:

This is real-world learning. Over the duration of this 6 week course, you'll participate in live virtual small-group sessions as well as in-person immersive learning at a Guidepost Montessori school. Supported by trained Montessori guides, you will observe, discover, and directly teach these young students. You will explore all aspects of a Montessori classroom, from the routines of the day to the materials on the shelves. This immersive experience will be supported by virtual check-ins and reflection opportunities with your peer group.

Discover a new passion
Have you ever thought about how humans learn to learn? Do you ever think about being a teacher, or wanting to making an impact through education? In this course, you will learn about the physical, cognitive, social and emotional needs of children, and the role each plays in supporting their healthy development.
Learn from industry experts
Course material is prepared and delivered by The Prepared Montessorian Institute, a leading training centre for Montessori education worldwide. Led by world-class trainers, you will analyze and discuss questions surrounding the outcomes of early childhood education.
Earn a certification in education
Upon completion of the 6-week course, you will receive a Certification in Early Years Education from the Prepared Montessorian Institute. This course is an excellent foundation for pursuing a post-secondary degree in education, child development or psychology, or further teaching diplomas and accreditations.
Work in a real classroom
We blend theory and practice by intentionally integrating real practice into theory classes and seeing how the ideas raised in the courses manifest in real classrooms. This program includes a field placement component where you will gain practical, hands-on work experience in a school.

Course details

Our 6-week course is a blended online and in-person experience. Students will learn virtually with some of the best Montessori trainers in the world, and and apply their skills in the classroom through an in-person component. Our course offers a unique blend between theoretical education and gaining the practical skills you need to work with young children.

Who was Maria Montessori?

Maria Montessori was not just the first woman to ever become a doctor in Italy. She was also a groundbreaking education philosopher. She worked in the poorest areas of Rome, with children who were thought to be "unteachable." It was with these children that she developed a theory of human development that continues to inspire educators and schools around the world. You can learn more about Maria Montessori here


Course structure

Over the duration of this 6 week course, you'll participate in live virtual small-group sessions as well as in-person immersive learning at one of our Guidepost Montessori schools.

Before starting, complete an application to share more about you, your goals, and what you are hoping to gain from this summer course. Once accepted, you will be assigned to a Guidepost Montessori school and mentor. You'll virtually meet your peer group and your instructors, and receive a care package of Montessori materials to practice at home
